Bug’s Art for Paper Clouds Apparel and Windrush Farm

23 May

I am so excited to announce that Bug’s drawings will be featured on t-shirts made by Paper Clouds Apparel starting on JUNE the 10th! This is such a fabulous collaboration for so many reasons, I can barely contain myself!

Image

First off, Paper Clouds is a super inspiring group who is doing amazing things, I mean AMAZING people! I can’t even begin to tell you how honored we are to be a part of this very special project! Paper Clouds donates 50% of the proceeds from each campaign to a different charity. Just when I thought it couldn’t get any better, I found out that they also employ individuals with special needs! I found this spectacular group through one of my most favorite blogs ever, The Crumb Diaries! The star of the page, the very handsome Mr. Logan, was already involved and they were looking for a co-artist so we sent them some of Bug’s pictures and the rest is history! :) Just wait, it gets EVEN better!!…. Logan’s beautiful mom Ally chose Windrush Farm for this project! They are a non-profit, working horse farm that has been successfully helping children and adults with physical, emotional, and learning disabilities since 1964! Now how flippin awesome is that?!! These causes are SO extremely worthy and I would LOVE to see us bring them as much joy as they have brought to others! Please buy a shirt, or ten! ;)

I will be sure to remind everyone when June 10th rolls around! HEHE wild horses couldn’t stop me! Hell, even BACON couldn’t stop me! :)

Catching you up on some Bug-ism’s :)

22 May

Image

If you’re new to the site, Bug-ism’s are the cute things my sweet boy says. I haven’t updated this part of the site for a long time so I’ve compiled my favorites from the past couple of months. Enjoy! :)

“Mom I love you, and I’m not gonna stop.” Immediately after he said “I don’t know what this button does but it’s EPIC! Is that Twitter Mom? Didja know Twitter is just Twit without the ‘er’.”

Image

Bug said this- ”Mom who would you be on Star wars? Darth Vader, Darth maul, or the other guy that made darth vader, or Yoda? Or you can be that girl. I’d pick Yoda cause he has major focus Mom! He is a sensei, Mom!” and I tweeted it. Well ‘Yoda’ tweeted Bug back! After I showed Bug his tweet from Yoda he smiled HUGE and said “Let’s call him Mom!” So…anybody have a good Yoda voice?

Image

“If you were Donkey Kong would you be massively angry or just normal, mom? I need an answer fast, I have important business!”

Image

I was talking to Bug about organic farming and farmers that use pesticides and the reason they use them. He says, “We don’t need pesticides, we need glass boxes. Bugs are weak to glass boxes.”

Image

Bug yells “Mommis!! Pigs are a myth!” I said “Well if pigs are a myth Bug then that would mean bacon is a myth too”…we quickly came to the conclusion that pigs and bacon are both in fact real…..and then we wanted some bacon.

Image

Bugs called me Jeffery all day one day..I said “What?! Can’t I Ieast get a pretty girly name?” Bug laughs hysterically and says “Jeffery! Jeffery! YOU LOOOOOVE JEFFERY Mom! You’ve loved it since first graaaadeee!!!”

Image

The hubs tried getting Bug to eat a crescent roll and he turns his nose up and says “But I don’t like Spanish bagels!” Spanish bagels? HAHA!

Image

I was watchin’ yet another one of a million infomercials with my little as seen on tv salesman and he looks at me and says “Hey mom you love flowers right? We will get them for mothers day! The most beautifulest flowers. See all those satisfied customers Mom!? They’re satisfied. And the quality!? Those flowers probably put up a multi-smell Mom!! We can call Pro flowers so you can buy you some! Cause I know how much you love flowers mom.”

Autism and Wandering- Please share with everyone you know! THREE CHILDREN GONE.

16 May

Image

I cannot stress to everyone enough how important it is that you spread this message to everyone you know and everyone they know. There should be a national Autism Wandering Prevention campaign but for now this is all we’ve got, word of mouth, so let’s all join together and spread it far and wide! Sharing this information could make all the difference for many children and their families.

I am writing this on the heals of yet another wandering/water story in the autism community that came to a tragic end on Wednesday morning. Little nine year old Mikaela Renee Lynch was last seen by her family jumping on their trampoline in the backyard of the family’s vacation home in Clearlake California. She was later found dead Wednesday in a creek close to her home after going missing in Lake County.

Full story here

Communities need to be aware that children with Autism often have NO sense of danger. There have been several kids with asd in the past who have met a tragic fate due to water, running into traffic or other dangerous areas, and other things so horrible you couldn’t even imagine it. This is a national emergency and should be treated as such. This could be anybody’s baby! I urge you to contact your state representatives and tell them to take action for Autism Wandering NOW!

* 5-19 Since writing this yet another angel was stolen from us due to a wandering/drowning incident.  Little Owen Black was found dead in the water in Perdido Key, Fla, according to the Pensacola News Journal.  He was found about half-a-mile from where he went missing where his family was vacationing.

And yet another child..The doctors worked on little Drew for two hours but were unable to bring him back.

May your sweet souls rest in Peace Owen, Mikaela, and Drew.

Tomorrow I will officially be a Non-Smoker!

14 May

Image

Getting my fill of my cigarettes today because tomorrow I am quitting FOR GOOD! The Hubs too!! (Thank you Moosh♥) I am embarrassed to even say we are smokers for the obvious reasons but also because three years ago I was in the hospital for 9 days over Christmas with a collapsed lung and a tube shoved in my side allowing me to breathe, attached to a machine, and stuck to a hospital bed away from my boy. It was scary and horrible and I never want to have to go through it again. I quit after that whole episode but unfortunately picked the habit back up when I was over-stressed..bum lung and all:( SO, tomorrow I will stick my nicotine patch on, I am gonna buy some cartridge thingies for my e-cig and that will be that! I debated on whether or not I should share this but I really want to quit so I’m letting you all know! Tomorrow this girl is a non-smoker!

A MUST WATCH AUTISM VIDEO- Girl explains autism

8 May

Some things in this video are a bit outdated but the overall message is timeless. I encourage everyone to watch and share!

13yearoldexplainsautism

“13-year-old Rosie takes us into her world and explains what autism is and what it’s like to live with it. Rosie introduces us to Tony, Ben and her brother Lenny, all children who have the condition. The children share their own stories in their own words which gives us a better look at what it’s like to be autistic. The documentary was recently named Best Factual Program at the 2013 International Emmy Kids Awards.” -via thehotcommercials on youtube

What is the most expensive item your kiddo has trashed?

8 May

Here is a post I’d like to share from the Rockin Autism Mom Facebook page-

“ I recently had a conversation with an autism momma friend about all the pricey things our kids have destroyed..had to laugh :) What is the most expensive item that your kiddos have trashed? Stories please! I’ve got an idea this will be a fun post”

To see all the stories click right here :)

Feel free to add your own stories in the comments here or on Facebook.

Bug’s most pricey disaster would have to be his carpet at our old house….Oy freakin vey! And probably also the thousands of dollars in wasted bath products he loved to dump. I used to use good shampoo like Biolage…eventually I realized I was literally watching my money go down the damned drain! One time he emptied an entire bottle of shampoo on the carpet..every time I steam cleaned it would make a bubble the size of the room! :)
